If I ate too much, I would feel like vomiting. Although I took medication, I still experienced discomfort and pain at times. In August last year (2024), the stomach pain was so severe that even medication was ineffective, so I went to see a gastroenterologist. I told the doctor that my mouth felt like it was on fire. The doctor said it was due to severe inflammation, often described as 'stomach fire affecting the heart,' and that an endoscopy was needed to get a clear view. After the endoscopy, the report showed intestinal metaplasia. I asked what that was, and the doctor explained simply that long-term inflammation had damaged my stomach lining cells. If the inflammation continued, it could lead to a risk of stomach cancer. How frightening! I asked: How can I maintain my health? The doctor said: Besides taking medication, you must avoid coffee, tea, and spicy food. Especially spicy food—I used to love it and couldn't do without it, but for the sake of my health, I had to abstain.
